I was in a training recently with Art and Rob Phelps and Art talked about having faith in the context of your Network Marketing business.
Webster defines faith as “complete trust or confidence in someone or something.”
Synonyms – belief – trust – confidence – credit
Consider how faith might work in a home based network marketing business?
Let’s start at the beginning. When you first heard about network marketing there was a seed planted in your consciousness, and perhaps you started to nourish the seed right away or perhaps you let it hibernate, like a seed lying dormant in the winter. Whatever it was, sooner or later something happened and that seed started to sprout. In the beginning perhaps you didn’t trust or believe or have confidence that you could succeed with this new venture. How are you supposed to take this tiny sprouting seed and turn it into a mature and thriving business? If you just sit there, and try to figure it, it doesn’t happen.
Jeff Olson in his book, The Slight Edge, talks about envisioning what you want. ”Envisioning something simply means having the ability to create a vivid picture of something that hasn’t factually happened yet and make make that picture so vivid that it feels real. Envisioning doesn’t happen simply by creating a picture in your mind. If your dreams and aspirations are happening in your mind only, that’s not envisioning, that’s wishful thinking, which as Yoda pointed out, really doesn’t cut it. (“Do or do not – there is not try.”)”
Faith, is not just believing something will happen, then sitting back and waiting. How about making faith a verb? Each day we ACT upon things we hope for when we cannot see the end result. This is faith. We envision the end result having faith that we can make it happen. ACT is the important word. Faith without action is dead. We start a business, we see where we want it to go, we put faith into action believing that the end result will be the successful business we envisioned.
Next step, you have to have a plan. If you are new to network marketing you may only have a couple of associates. So start the envisioning process – where do you want to be in one year? You say you want to have 12 new people in your downline. Look into the future who do you see in your downline one year from today, now work backward. You see them but how did they get there? Break it down, in coaching we say chunk it, like eating an elephant you take one bite at a time. Add one new person each month. How to you do that? What steps do you need to take? Perhaps 20 messages a day to people you know who are interested in network marketing. Follow up with personal phone calls at least 2 a day, invite them to the next webinar or company call. Whether they show up or not follow up. You get the picture. Jeff Olson also talks about taking small steps consistently over a long period of time to reach your goals. So whatever your plan is follow through, do it today, and tomorrow and every day after that and see where you are in a year. Don’t loose the vision have faith in what you want. If your plan is not working you can regroup, change your plan, don’t continue to do the same things over and over it they are not working. The plan you start with is not the same plan that you end with. Make a new plan
Remember to have faith, use it as an action word. See the end where you want to be and take small steps consistently over time to reach your goals. Faith is about trusting and believing that you can harvest, plan for your harvest, trust in yourself and next year at this time your business will have grown to the place you envisioned it to be.
